Tonight we had our first rehearsal for the new yet-to-be-named funk & blues band. We’re a 7-piece for now: guitar, keys, bass, drums, trombone, sax, trumpet.
We worked on two Blues Brothers arrangements, Gimme Some Lovin’ and Sweet Home Chicago, which are coming along nicely. We also ran 25 or 6 to 4 and Pick up the Pieces. Too much fun, especially that mile-long guitar solo in 25 or 6 to 4.
What a blast to be playing this music.
But we need a name! And despite hours on the Band Automatic Name Generator for names like:
- Uncomfortable Mango Avalanche
- Automatic Hippo
- Awestruck Guffaw
- Sapphire Canned French Fries
- Blasphemous Hack
…we still don’t have one, though we do have several joke names like Tommy K and the No Mittens Orchestra.
