JN Tour 2011 Day 4

Today the kids went to the Dollywood Splash Park while the adults went various directions.  I went with a group to see Sara’s plot of land west of Knoxville. Afterwards, we found this amazing restaurant in Knoxville called Tomato Head. They had some of the best vegetarian food I’ve ever had.  They also had chicken and other stuff for the meat eaters. :)  Everybody loved this place, I wish we had one like it in Maryland.  I’d eat there alot.

Tonight we played at Trinity Baptist Church. The show was great! It was the best crowd yet, and the sound was very good.  Maybe our best show yet.  Tomorrow some of the band & crew are leaving early for home while the others are going rafting with the kids.

It was a great tour! We’ll see you at Homecoming Friday night. Come if you can!

JN Tour 2011 Day 3

We went to Dollywood today with the kids. I really had no idea what to expect, but it’s a decent theme park.  I rode two roller coasters, Thunderhead and the Mystery Mine.  Both were great, Thunderhead is a fast wooden coaster, and Mystery Mine was a surprisingly fun ride through a mine and then outside.  We checked out a gospel group at one of the shows, called the Kingdom Heirs. While they were great singers, we quickly realized they were singing to a track (even though there were some live musicians), and so I lost interest and bailed after a few tunes.

After that, it was off to First United Methodist Church in Morristown, TN.  It’s a beautiful church with great acoustics.  I think the concert tonight was the best one of the tour so far!  The youth choir from this church joined us for Agnus Dei, which basically doubled our choir and made for a very powerful performance.  There was also a great crowd and that always helps us sing & play with more energy.

JN Tour 2011 Day 2

The band has officially named this tour the Lord, I Apologize Tour, but that’s probably a story for another time…

Fun day today, the kids visited Claytor Lake and some of the band & crew stopped by Natural Bridge, on the way to 1st Baptist Church in Greeneville, Tennessee.  Greeneville is the only town by that name with the extra ‘e’ in the name.  It’s also the place President Andrew Johnson started his political career.

Anyway, A great day and a great concert tonight.  The source of my technical difficulties turned out to be the jack being loose on my guitar, which was grounding out.  Easy fix.

Tomorrow we’re heading to Dollywood before heading to Morristown.

We stopped here. They did have a little cheese, but had lots of other stuff. The Monty Python jokes were flying.

JN Tour 2011 Day 1

Well the tour got off to an interesting start. The bus apparently had a tire blow and was late getting to the church to pick up the kids. But the band & tech crew headed out on time. We stopped at Woodstock, VA for lunch at this great little place called the Woodstock Cafe.  After that we headed to the church where we unloaded, setup and sounchecked.  Meanwhile the bus made it to get the kids and they took a shortened tour of Luray Caverns on the way to the church.

Joyful Noise! Tour 2011

Sadly, this is my last tour with the Joyful Noise! band for a while.  With the success of my band CCB, and in order to simplify my life a little bit, I’ve decided not to return to the JN! group next year.  It has been a blast, and I will miss these amazing people dearly!  But we have one final tour to do and we’re heading to Tennessee.  Even though we’re not going to make it to Nashville, I’m pretty excited about going to Tennessee since I’ve never been.  I’ll be blogging about it right here, so stay tuned!
