Guitar Christmas: Winter Wonderland by Tuck Andress

Tuck is the instrumental half of Tuck and Patti, but this tune is all Tuck.  Winter Wonderland is from his 1991 solo release Hymns, Carols, and Songs about Snow (his second solo album-his first being 1990′s Reckless Precision).

I love Tuck’s ability to hold down a bassline, groove, stretch harmonies, and solo/melody all at the same time.  As a guitarist, there’s just so much to learn here.  As a listener, it’s simply a beautiful arrangement of a Christmas classic.

I’m counting down the days to Christmas with some holiday favs by my favorite pickers.  See all of ‘em so far.  I’m always looking for more good guitar holiday music, so please use the comments to share your favorites.

Mmmmmmmm . . . VEry nice! I have such a big holiday music collection I now limit myself to purchasing only one new Christmas CD each year, and this one I’m adding to my “A” list! THanks. Also, one of my perennial favorites is local classical guitarist Michael Kolmstetter. I bought his “CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS ON GUITAR” about 8 years ago after hearing him live, and it’s still one of my favorites. You can get a used copy on Amazon, but visit Michael’s own website for a new copy. Happy Holidays!

I’m glad you like Tuck. He’s something special. Thanks for the tip on Michael Kolmstetter, I’ll check him out! Always glad to support local guitarists.
