Christmas Blues appears on 1999′s A Very Special Christmas Live, which was a benefit concert in DC for the Special Olympics. John Popper and Eric Clapton are a great match on this song, with Popper singing & showcasing his amazing harmonica skills. I love Clapton’s comping during this song. Even when he’s playing backup chords he puts so much soul into it. And, of course, he rips off a great solo as well. John and Eric trading solos is just pure fun. This album has is quite good. I’ll no doubt be including another song or two from it before the month’s out.
I’m counting down the days to Christmas with some holiday favs by my favorite pickers. See all of ‘em so far. I’m always looking for more good guitar holiday music, so please use the comments to share your favorites.
