Update on Guitarist Randy Rhoads Documentary

From Blabbermouth.net 11/4/09:

Director Peter M. Margolis of Dakota Pictures is rapidly approaching the final stages of editing and post-production on “Randy Rhoads: Last Train Home” (working title), the long-awaited documentary film on the life of celebrated rock guitarist Randy Rhoads (OZZY OSBOURNE, QUIET RIOT). Margolis is reaching out to anyone who may have a candid photo of Rhoads to contribute to the film… (visit Blabbermouth.net for more details)

It’s good to hear that things are progressing.  There was some buzz earlier this summer when the movie trailer was released, and then subsequently pulled due to rights issues.  But anticipated release dates for the film have come and gone.  It’d be nice to see it open around his birthday (Dec 6), but I imagine the anniversary of his death (Mar 19) is more realistic.  Looking forward to this one.

I am so happy that someone is finally attempting a movie about this great man. Randy was my hero and I was a devestated 14 year old guitar player when he passed away. Thanks to him, I can teach & watch my 10 & 15 year old daughters play guitar. Randy gave that to me and I am forever grateful for his music.

Me, too! Randy inspired so many, I think we’re in good company. I’m hoping there will be some news soon.

Thank god a film on Randy is coming out I’ve been waiting on this, since I found out who he was in 87! Wish there was more on him, can’t wait!

Unfortunately, there is no update on the project anywhere that I can find. There was some controversy when former Quiet Riot frontman Kevin DuBrow refused to participate and voiced his disapproval of the project in a very public way. Others, like Rudy Sarzo, have defended the film and director Peter Margolis’ work. But the bottom line is that it has been ugly and polarizing. I don’t know if or how all of this has affected the film’s production, but the update above was from a year ago and there’s still no word. Meanwhile, it is us fans who are missing out while the film is stuck in limbo. I hope there is word soon.

I cannot believe that this is finally being done. one of the most influential guitar players of all time, (to me and apparently to alot of people) i grew up listening to ozzy and randy’s stuff from blizzard of Oz, and it was just amazing, cant wait to see the documentary and if there is any update im sure we would all like to know.
    Thank you
